Link between research, industry and standardization

Research is a key foundation for our technical and scientific work. In particular, we focus on applied and pre-normative research. Based on technical-scientific questions, e.g. from the context of materials testing, we initiate practice-oriented research projects together with our member companies and various research partners or jointly create the basis for the design of the regulatory framework in prenormative research projects.

In this context, figawa takes the role as:

  • Initiator of applied and pre-normative research projects to answer technical-scientific questions,
  • Stakeholder / project partner / associated partner in research and joint projects - technical-scientific work,
  • Cooperation partner in the context of research, industry and standardization
  • Transfer partner on the way to standardization,
  • Communication and networking partner and thus interface between research and industry - communication and dissemination from research to the professional public.

Research Partners

Figawa cooperates in numerous research projects for the gas and water industry with the following partners, among others:

Research Projects

Here you will find an overview of our research projects, which we have carried out together with our partners over the past years. We have listed these according to our topics.

Decentralized hall heating

Research partner
ITG Institut für Technische Gebäudeausrüstung Dresden

Project Duration
12/2009 - 06/2011

Project
In 2009, figawa commissioned the Institut für Technische Gebäudeausrüstung Dresden to conduct the a study, which was funded by the Zukunft Bau research initiative of the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning. The task of the study was the investigation of hall buildings with their characteristic building structure and HVAC system technology for the targeted development of the entire potential of energy saving and emission reduction in the course of the update of the DIN V 18599 / EnEV 2014 series of standards. The study was carried out in the period from December 2009 to June 2011.

Background
Until now, no satisfactory method has been available for the energy evaluation of hall buildings. The most suitable is DIN V 18599, which, however, reveals a number of problems when calculating the energy performance of buildings, since it does not adequately reflect the building structure, the structure of use and the special HVAC systems. The aim of this research project was to create the basis for further development of DIN V 18599 in this area and to develop proposals for exploiting energy-saving potential in the area of hall buildings. Another important objective of the study was the analysis and evaluation of hall heating systems. The use of decentralized and centralized heating technology was to be simulated in the form of a system comparison.

Research partner
ELVHIS e.V. / Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Department Detector Radiometry and Radiation Thermometry.

Project
Wissenschaftlicher Nachweis über die Eignung der Messmethode eines cosinusgetreuen Messkopfes für Infrarot-Wärmestrahlung.

Background
Improve reproducibility while complying with the regulatory framework.
